Change Process Development
Application Change Management Process Development
The Business Challenge
The Livelink product had been in use in house for approximately 18 months by a number of business divisions. During that time, Livelink environments were deployed to support the standard development / test / production lifecycle and a series of processes and procedures were developed to support the management of these environments. Near the end of this 18 month period, significant and substantial changes were made to the Livelink production environment which fundamentally changed Livelink's "footprint" and, as a result, had rendered many of the previous processes and procedures obsolete.
Co-incident with these changes, the customer was taking deliberate steps to move Livelink into an "operational" mode. As part of this move, operational procedures needed to be reassessed in response to initial feedback for the SOX and Audit teams within the company.
The Burntsand Solution
The objective of the project was to improve the Livelink Core Team's operational capabilities through a formal review of the processes for managing the development / test / production lifecycle of the Livelink Environments.
Burntsand developed the Livelink Core Team Change Management process, including process diagrams, procedures and dependencies that were necessary to plan for, implement and run Change Management within the environments. This included consideration for ITIL best practices as well as components of IT best practices aligned to CoBiT framework in support of SOX compliance, particularly those relating to application change management, access to production, systems security and systems development. Burntsand also included recommendations for automating components of the process in order to facilitate audit tracking.
