Role Responsibilities:
As a Burntsand consultant, your duties will include interacting with user, business and executive groups to help define the client's needs and translating those needs into a solution of value. As a partner to our clients, we do what is necessary to help them be a success. The ability to empathize with and understand the business needs of the client is one of the single most important characteristics you bring to the job as well as a great attitude toward teamwork and superb technical ability. As a Project Manager, you will manage fixed price as well as T&M project engagements. These consulting engagements require heavy client interaction to manage expectations of project deliverables, scope, budget and deadlines. This role offers the tremendous satisfaction and responsibility of delivering high value solutions to our client's business problems. You will:
- Manage Project Scope, Risk, Change, Project Protocol (QA, quality assurance, team reference guide, communication plan, and setting up the environment), Resources, Administration, Track and Control and Status Reporting.
- Develop efficient project plans (and estimates) and effectively implement, drive and coordinate these plans.
- Schedule and facilitate meetings to provide status, obtain sign off, resolve critical issues, and work through project scheduling conflicts. Anticipate and effectively deal with problems and roadblocks.
- Perform Business Analyst functions such as: eliciting, documenting, and managing business requirements; documenting the gaps between current state and future state; writing use cases.
- Implement and/or work within a budget.
- Effectively communicate project status to the project team and to executives.
- Create professional presentations to communicate project information effectively.
Role Requirements:
- Prior project management experience (Minimum of 5+ years).
- Strong Business Analyst skills (requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, use case development, gap analysis).
- Experience managing custom software development projects (as opposed to simply packaged software implementations).
- Solid understating of two or more waterfall or rapid application development software development lifecycle methodologies (RUP * Rational Unified Process, MSF * Microsoft Solutions Framework, Scrum, Agile, eXtreme, DSDM, etc.).
- Experience developing proposals, and Statements of Work.
- Excellent project management skills, excellent time management skills, effective planning, management and control of projects.
- Proven ability to work with cross functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline intensive environment.
- Strong Microsoft Project skills.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Solid planning and organization skills.
- Excellent people skills - demonstrated ability to work with both technical and non-technical individuals, both in gathering information and communicating direction and status.
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Computer Science or related field.
- Prior consulting experience (strong preference, though not an absolute requirement).
- PMP or CMM certification.
- Prior business analysis background or software development background.
- Familiarity with UML business requirements and process modeling artifacts (Use Case Diagrams, Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, etc.).
- Experience assisting customer account team to identify, pursue and close strategic business development opportunities while continually driving add-on business within existing accounts.
- Diplomatic (all great consultants display this trait).
- Technically adept (you have current skills and are able to deploy them across a variety of projects and solutions).
- Communication (you can converse with customer and team members of all levels).
- Committed (to your customer, your team and your project).
